【ANN NEWS, LAS VEGAS】
From August 10 to 12 local time, the 2026 Las Vegas Chinese Footwear Brand Business Matching Event was held in Las Vegas. Organized by the Trade Development Bureau of China’s Ministry of Commerce and hosted by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts, the event was held in conjunction with the MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas, bringing Chinese footwear companies together with retailers, distributors and professional buyers from the United States and across North America for business matching.

The event brought together nearly 30 companies from major Chinese footwear-producing regions, including Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Henan. Products on display included women’s fashion footwear, casual and athletic shoes, work footwear and safety shoes. More than 50 brand retailers, distributors and professional buyers from the United States and other parts of North America participated in business talks, with total attendance exceeding 100 people.

During the event, participating companies showcased new products and innovative manufacturing techniques while holding face-to-face discussions with North American buyers on order cooperation, regional distribution and product customization. The event also used a digital system to organize buyer resources and information on purchasing needs, supporting subsequent demand matching and business follow-up.

Zhang Jie, vice president of the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts, said at the launch ceremony that he hoped the event would further consolidate and deepen economic and trade cooperation between the Chinese and U.S. footwear industries, achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes, and support Chinese companies in establishing a foothold in the North American market and making the transition from “products going global” to “brands going global.”

The MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas, which served as the platform for the event, was founded in 1933 and is one of North America’s longest-running and larger professional B2B footwear trade shows. A single edition covers more than 200,000 square meters of exhibition space and brings together nearly 4,000 exhibitors from around the world, providing a longstanding platform for business exchanges between global footwear companies and professional buyers.

The United States is a major global consumer and importer of footwear. Data show that U.S. footwear imports totaled $27.19 billion in 2025, including $7.08 billion in footwear imports from China, accounting for 26.1% of total U.S. footwear imports. China remains an important source of footwear imports for the United States.

In recent years, China’s footwear exports to the United States have declined amid factors including diversification of global supply chains and changes in trade policies. However, China’s footwear industry continues to maintain strong competitiveness in full-category production capacity, original design, quality control and customized services, while the Chinese and U.S. footwear industries have long maintained close industrial and trade ties.

Simon Ferguson, executive vice president of fashion at Informa Markets, organizer of the MAGIC trade show, said the strengths of Chinese manufacturing are clear, and that footwear, headwear and apparel made in China are closely connected to the daily lives of Americans. “Walk down the street in any city or town in the United States, and you will find that many footwear and apparel products are made in China.”

Ferguson said cooperation between U.S. brands and Chinese companies is vital, adding, “In the long run, China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation will continue to develop.”
The business matching event adopted a model combining “centralized showcasing + targeted business talks + digital customer development + full-cycle promotion.” During the trade show, companies communicated directly with overseas buyers, while digital tools were used to establish a database of buyer resources and match needs involving order cooperation, regional distribution and product customization. Promotion before, during and after the event also continued to expand the visibility of participating companies and Chinese footwear brands in the North American market.

Following the conclusion of the on-site business matching sessions and trade show displays, participating footwear companies will use buyer feedback and North American market information gathered in Las Vegas to advance the development of new products and optimize their supply chains.

In recent years, while consolidating their traditional manufacturing strengths, Chinese footwear companies have continued expanding their own brands overseas, moving beyond traditional product exports into higher-value-added areas such as proprietary brands and original design. The China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Light Industrial Products and Arts-Crafts will continue to play its role in industry coordination and commercial communication, leveraging international professional B2B platforms such as MAGIC to help Chinese footwear companies further connect with overseas markets.

Against the backdrop of continued adjustments in global footwear trade and supply chains, the Las Vegas Chinese Footwear Brand Business Matching Event provided new opportunities for Chinese footwear companies to expand in the North American market and strengthen ties with overseas distribution channels through direct exchanges between companies and buyers, while also providing a platform for continued economic and trade cooperation between the Chinese and U.S. footwear industries.
