【ANN NEWS, HONG KONG】 The Office of Tung Chee-hwa announced that Tung Chee-hwa, the first Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and former vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, died in Hong Kong on the evening of September 8, 2026, at the age of 89. Xinhua News Agency further reported that Tung died of illness at 9:57 p.m. that evening.
