【ANN NEWS, LOS ANGELES】 Jackie, the Big Bear bald eagle who captivated millions of viewers around the world through livestreams, has officially become part of California history following her death in August. The California State Senate passed a resolution designating September 4, 2026, as “California Wildlife Day” in honor of the beloved “eagle mom” who had been watched by online audiences for years.

Jackie lived in the Big Bear Lake area of Southern California. In 2015, the conservation organization Friends of Big Bear Valley installed a livestream camera at the eagle nest, allowing viewers around the world to watch Jackie and her mate Shadow build their nest, incubate eggs and raise eaglets around the clock. Over the years, the two bald eagles endured snowstorms, unsuccessful hatching attempts and the growth of their eaglets, drawing millions of viewers online.

This summer, Jackie was taken to the Ojai Raptor Center for treatment after being injured in Big Bear Lake. She received treatment including a blood transfusion, but ultimately died on August 10.
California State Senator Tony Strickland introduced SR 140, which received bipartisan support in the State Senate. The resolution said Jackie not only became a symbol of California wildlife but also inspired more people around the world to pay attention to wildlife conservation.

Although Jackie is gone, the Big Bear eagle nest livestream continues, and the footage she and Shadow left behind over the years has become a shared memory for countless viewers.
