【ANN NEWS Miami】 A serious aviation accident occurred at Miami International Airport on Sunday afternoon. A Boeing 767 cargo plane operating for Amazon ran off the runway while landing, struck several vehicles outside the airport and caught fire, leaving at least 5 people dead and 5 injured, including 3 in critical condition.
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said the aircraft involved was Prime Air Flight 7598, operated by 21 Air. The plane departed San Juan, Puerto Rico, earlier that day and arrived at Miami International Airport at around 2 p.m. local time on Sept. 6, when it ran off the runway during landing.
Footage from the scene showed the large cargo plane severely damaged after leaving the airport grounds, with thick black smoke and flames visible. Several vehicles on the ground were struck. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue deployed more than 60 emergency units and about 200 personnel to the scene for firefighting and search-and-rescue operations.
The accident prompted a temporary ground stop for all flights at Miami International Airport, affecting a large number of flights. Some runways later resumed operations. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) have launched investigations, and it remains unclear why the aircraft was unable to stop normally after landing.
