【ANN NEWS, LOS ANGELES】 The Los Angeles Chinatown Business Improvement District announced that it has been awarded a grant from McCourt Partners’ 2026 “Better Communities Fund.” The funding will support the Chinatown Business Improvement District’s continued efforts to advance community safety, celebrate Chinatown’s cultural identity, and provide greater support for Chinatown’s longstanding small businesses and merchants.
As a trusted, community-centered organization, the Chinatown Business Improvement District has long played an important role in supporting local businesses, maintaining public spaces, and preserving Chinatown’s unique cultural heritage. “We are deeply grateful for McCourt Partners’ longstanding support of Chinatown,” said George Yu, executive director of the Chinatown Business Improvement District. “This funding allows us to expand and deepen our services while continuing to develop programs that create a distinctive destination rooted in authentic culture. Together, we are working to build a healthier and more vibrant community.”
With support from McCourt Partners, the BID will continue to provide essential community services——street maintenance, graffiti removal, public safety patrols and cultural programming——strengthening Los Angeles Chinatown’s position as one of downtown’s most historic and beloved neighborhoods. Investments of this kind are critical to ensuring that community-based organizations have the resources needed for sustained development and to maintain and strengthen the communities they serve.

McCourt Partners’ “Better Communities Fund” supports initiatives across Los Angeles that promote greater community inclusion, stronger connections and increased resilience. “The Chinatown Business Improvement District is exactly what the ‘Better Communities Fund’ is about: investing in organizations that deliver real, measurable results for the communities where we live and work,” said Jordan Lang, president of McCourt Partners. “George Yu and his team have built a deeply trusted institution that is woven into the everyday life of the community. We are proud to support their work and commend their steadfast commitment to Chinatown’s continued prosperity.”
“The Chinatown BID is the backbone of our community,” added Jeanne Lam, owner of Golden Dragon Restaurant. “From the daily work of keeping the neighborhood clean and safe to events that attract visitors and strengthen community engagement, the BID’s impact is everywhere. McCourt Partners’ funding means more resources for Chinatown residents and small businesses.”
Through this funding, McCourt Partners will join numerous local Chinatown businesses——including longtime establishments such as Blossom Plaza, Far East Plaza, Golden Dragon Restaurant and Grand Star Jazz Club——in a shared commitment to the community’s long-term growth and resilience. The collaboration among prominent businesses across different sectors reflects the community’s shared commitment to promoting Chinatown’s economic vitality and preserving its distinctive culture.
